Alta Badia the Valley

Welcome to the heart of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site

Alta Badia, nestled in the heart of the Dolomites of South Tyrol, is a sunny spot with breathtaking alpine scenery, an international, unique, natural and cultural landscape and its perfect symbiosis between tradition and the Italian “Dolce Vita”.

The Dolomites are a section of the Alps, located in the northeast part of Italy south of Austria. They are often referred to as the most beautiful mountains in the world spanning 6,155 square miles.

The 6 towns of Alta Badia, located in the heart of the Dolomites, are compromised  of Corvara, Colfosco, Badia, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val with about 6000 inhabitants in all. Elevations range from La Villa at 4300 feet to Piz Boe 10,342 feet.
The well known resort towns of Cortina & Val Gardena boarder the Alta Badia region over mountain passes to the north and south.

Alta Badia Summer Tour Description:

Ten nights and eleven days of non-stop fun in the heart of the Dolomites.  The focus of this trip is to explore this amazing terrain and be challenged.  Our goal is to hike up to 6 hours a day with the average of 3000 ft of elevation gain on our bigger days. A highlight of the trip is two separate nights at two mountain rifugios gained by spectacular via ferrata. Since we have the advantage of several guides plus a local mountain guide, we can split the group according to energy levels & interest. All rifugios can be reached via hiking trails.  In addition to our hikes, Alta Badia is well known for its extensive bike path network. We have two optional days of cycling for those wishing to rent a bike and experience the EcoDolomitesbike day when all passes around the Sella region are closed to motorized vehicles. On our hikes we will experience points of geological interest such as Dolomiti Unesco World Natural Heritage, World War 1 historical sites around Lagazoi & Nature Parks such as Puez-Odle & Fanes.

The beauty of this tour to the Dolomites is to experience the variety that this region has to offer. Each day we will do something different and new. Along with amazing hikes, biking trails and rifugios scattered about the mountains, there is plenty of time to soak in the local culture and ancient Ladin history. We will indulge in the traditional culinary delights that this region is so famous for, not to mention the fragrance of a wonderful bottle of regional wine.
